Speaker Lineup

Hayley Standen is a registered nurse, passionate advocate, and proud neurodivergent woman navigating life with ADHD and Misophonia. Her brain is what she lovingly calls spicy—a mix of scattered brilliance, deep empathy, and a whole lot of heart. She lives in beautiful Tasmania with her husband and their rescue dog, Odie, where she embraces the rollercoaster of life with humour, warmth, and love.
In her role as a school health nurse, Hayley works closely with children and young people every day, supporting their physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing. Her work includes delivering health education, promoting wellbeing, and providing early intervention and support across a wide range of health needs. Within this role, she creates practical, supportive resources and provides education to fellow staff and professionals, helping to build greater awareness and understanding of Misophonia and neurodiversity within schools and the wider community.
Outside of her professional work, Hayley is the proud founder of Living Spicy—a platform and community where she shares insights, resources, and reflections on living with ADHD and Misophonia. Living Spicy is where she celebrates the messy, joyful, and unpredictable moments of neurodivergent life, always with a generous sprinkle of humour, nostalgia, and love. Whether she’s sipping iced matcha, dancing in the kitchen, reading yet another novel or creating tools to help others feel seen and supported, her mission is to educate, empower, and create awareness, empathy and understanding—with love at the core of everything she does.

Dr Laura Connolly is a Clinical Neuropsychologist who is experienced in working with neurodiverse individuals. Laura regularly conducts neuropsychological assessments and therapy with ADHDers, and has a special interest in the facilitation of therapeutic groups. She enjoys helping people understand their brain and functioning and assisting others to build new skills. She has a passion for working collaboratively with clients and taking a strengths-based approach to helping individuals reach their goals.

She has had clinical experience in a range of settings, including private practice, and inpatient and outpatient public health services, and has worked with individuals across the lifespan. In a hospital setting, Laura works with people with various forms of acquired brain injury, dementia, and neurological conditions. She has published research in peer reviewed journals regarding the role of light therapy in improving sleep and fatigue. She is also a certified meditation teacher with the Meditation Association of Australia.

Laura will be presenting on understanding the ADHD brain from a neuropsychological perspective, and practical strategies for improving executive functioning, including the benefits of group therapy in skill building.

Fiona Spence is a trauma-informed mindset coach and Conversational Hypnotherapy practitioner who specialises in understanding how the nervous system shapes behaviour, emotional regulation, and confidence.

Her work explores the often overlooked link between trauma, chronic stress, and ADHD-related challenges such as overwhelm, emotional reactivity, people pleasing, shutdown, and persistent self-doubt. Rather than focusing on surface strategies, Fiona works at the level where patterns are formed, helping people create meaningful and lasting change.

Drawing on a background in martial arts, mindset training, and lived experience of burnout and recovery, Fiona brings a grounded and practical perspective on resilience, focus, and self-leadership. Her approach is compassionate, direct, and rooted in how the brain and body actually respond to stress, pressure, and perceived threat.

At this conference, Fiona will explore how living with ADHD can, over time, create trauma-like patterns in the nervous system, and how repeated experiences of pressure, misunderstanding, and self-blame can lead to chronic stress, low self-trust, and imposter syndrome. She will also share how conversational approaches can help unwind these patterns and restore a sense of safety, confidence, and inner steadiness.

Sarah identifies as neurodiverse with a late diagnosis of both ADHD and ASD. She is a qualified teacher and in the true spirit of ADHD, changed career directions and retrained as a psychologist.

Sarah is currently working as a general psychologist in both a private practice and a private hospital. Sarah’s work is diverse and includes counselling and ADHD support for people aged 5-90 years.

Part of Sarah’s services includes assessments on both ASD and ADHD. She enjoys working across the spectrum and helping her clients identify what is happening in their lives.  Sarah is trained in ADOS2 and use evidence based screeners alongside a clinical interview to help in the diagnosis. She also looks for supporting information from schools, partners and parents and use this in the assessment process.

After they complete a diagnosis, she offers ongoing counselling supports. Sarah studied an ADHD Coaching Certificate and recently started her PhD in Psychology researching how ADHD is diagnosed in adults. This has been her area of hyperfocus to understand how a missed diagnosis can impact a person.

Jess is the Founder and Clinical Director of Perfectly Imperfect. She is a neurodivergent therapist, a proud parent to neurodivergent children, and a strong advocate for disability rights. After successfully challenging disability discrimination through the Human Rights Commission, Jess made it her mission to equip other parents with the tools and confidence to advocate for their children.
Jess brings both lived and professional experience to her work, providing neurodiversity-affirming support to autistic people, ADHDers, and queer and gender-diverse individuals, as well as those navigating anxiety, burnout, or family stress. Her practice is grounded in self-compassion and focuses on creating spaces where people can show up exactly as they are without masking.
Jess believes that no one should have to navigate these challenges alone. She walks alongside her clients, sharing tools she learned through lived experience and now passes on to others with care and understanding.

Ruth is a registered Psychologist with qualifications including a Bachelor of Psychological Science, a Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours, and a Graduate Certificate of Forensic Mental Health. During her studies, she supported individuals in crisis following trauma. She then completed a two-year internship, followed by work in private practice
Ruth has undertaken a wide range of additional professional training, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (T-FACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Somatic Therapy, Art Therapy, and several other areas of interest. Her work is guided by the principles of Trauma-Informed Care, Neuro-Affirming Practice, and Person-Centred Therapy.

She has worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, chronic pain, gender and sexuality concerns, grief and loss, and addiction.
