Autism and Sensory challenges

Penny is a Lecturer at Monash University.  She is a biostatistician in the Women’s Health Research Program, and teaches epidemiology and biostatistics to medicine, biomedical science and psychology students.   Penny is also autistic (diagnosed at 14 years, Year 9) and gives occasional talks about her personal experience.  She is an Ambassador of The I CAN Network, Yellow Ladybugs and Aspergers Victoria.  You may also know Penny as “Hoodie Girl”, or “Twitter Queen”!

In this talk, Penny will talk about sensory processing (8 senses) and how they affect her.  She’ll also talk about the story behind the “hoodie girl” incident in 2015.  She’ll also cover strategies she uses to cope with sensory sensitivities.
